3*M AR Old Mountain Farm ZoeRoe

Zoey was a slow starter. She seemed to stay small for an eternity but once she was bred those growth hormones that help to grow strong healthy kids affected her and gave her a growth spurt too (that is one of the many lessons learned from Harvey Considine). Zoey would never be a big goat but she no longer stood out as the runt in the herd. She was very smoothly blended with a short smooth hair coat that her sire was famous for producing. She had a lovely
top line, nice straight front legs and strong, straight feet and pasterns. Like her dam, she shared the same two faults; a turn in at the hocks and teats that point forward a bit.

Zoe was one of the most pleasant hand milking does I ever had in my herd. She had plump, plumb teats with large easy expressing orifices. Her most amazing feature though was her length of body and that AMAZINGLY wide rump with perfect slope from hips to pins and incredibly high thurls.

We lost our beautiful Zoe with the quirky comedian’s personality and the “crazy eyes”. She spent her life entertaining us and being a good friend. We spent two weeks trying to pull her through having her rumen shut down but she finally succumbed and passed away the morning of November 5th, 2024. Each time I think about her, I feel broken. You would think after so many years on this goat adventure that saying goodbye might get a little bit easier but it doesn’t, at least not for me. It gets harder and harder to say goodbye to my beautiful friends. This one was a real gut punch.
